Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mrs. Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, has urged President Akufo-Addo administration to support the youth with soft loans so that they can establish their businesses to reduce the employment burden on the Government.
She noted that supporting young people interested in entrepreneurship to create jobs will grow the local economy.
Addressing the media in Accra, Mrs. Sarpong Kumankuma said the CPP would continue to advocate and champion the interest of the youth, saying, a country that did not prioritize the interests of its youth had no future.
The CPP said in its 2016 and 2020 manifesto that if voted into power, it would create job opportunities through the setting up of Youth Activities Centres (YACs).
The CPP explained that the centers will contain facilities for sports, ICT centers, libraries, and counseling services designed to prevent the youth from falling victim to socially harmful activities, such as drug abuse, alcoholism, and pre-marital sex, all of which have been on the rise in recent times.
“Convention People’s Party government will produce a comprehensive training and employment policy that is linked up with a national development strategy in all sectors of the economy with a concentration on the development and acquisition of skills, through the use of technology. Equal opportunity in employment shall be guaranteed for all regardless of sex, with emphasis on inducting more women and people from underprivileged segments into the formal sector of the economy.”
