The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has expressed worry about Ghanaian clubs inability to compete in Africa in recent times.
The two most glamourous clubs (Kotoko and Hearts of Oak) together with other Ghana Premier League clubs have failed to make impact in the Africa inter-club competitions.
Speaking at the GFA 29th Ordinary Congress on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Sciences and Technology (KNUST), Mustapha Ussif urged the GFA and other stakeholders to invest in order to reclaim lost glory on the continent.
“Our Premier League clubs have lost their competitive edge in the time to reclaim our position among the African best”
“The FA, Club owners, club administrators, key stakeholders must invest in all aspect of the game to attract more fans into our league centres and regain our prominence in African club competition. Let us develop strategies to make our domestic league more attractive and competitive and financially sustainable” he said.
