Some Ghanaian Scientists at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, have reportedly developed Test Kit for testing of Coronavirus.
This could be a breakthrough should the Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, which is currently testing its quality, approves it.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, cousin to the President who is a deep-seated government official announced Monday afternoon on his Facebook wall that “My information is that scientists at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have developed a test kit for COVID-19, which is currently before the FDA for quality check and approval before it goes to Noguchi for efficacy test and approval. Fingers crossed”.
As of April 26, 2020, Ghana has recorded 1,550 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 11 deaths.

There have been calls for mass testing across the country to help contain the disease to avert a crisis.
The test kit developed by KNUST will, therefore, help the government to undertake this exercise at a less expensive cost.
