Born in Germany but of Ghanaian descent, Emmanuel Gyamfi, plays for FC Schalke’s U19 side since joining the Die Knappen. The 18-year-old has played a total of 29 games in the German U19 league as well as the U19 DFB Pokal. The fast-rising star has scored five and assisted five thus averaging a goal or assist in every 190 minutes of football. The left-footed midfielder has played at Left back, Left wing, Right wing, Left midfield and Left wing-back.
Gyamfi has recently been promoted to the senior side by head coach Thomas Reis following his excellent performances for the youth side and was involved in FC Schalke’s 2-0 win over Dutch second-tier side VVV-Venlo at the Parkstadion. Gyamfi replaced Kelsey Meisel in the 46th minute and slotted in at right wing in Thomas Reis’ preferred 4-2-3-1 formation where he lasted entirely for the remaining minutes of the game.
Spotted in the 47 jerseys, Gyamfi as usual showed many glimpses of what he is capable of, dazzling with his sweet cultured left foot on the right wing. He played his teammate, Tobias Mohr, through on goal in the 84th minute but goalkeeper Lukas Zima was much aware of the situation and prevented Venlo from conceding the 3rd goal.
The Ghanaian teenage sensation looks to continue from here where he would be looking to compete in Thomas Reis setup at the Veltins-Arena in the German top flight.
