Rabies is a viral disease that causes inflammation in human and mammals. Early symptoms of the disease include; fever and tingling at the site of exposure.
Doctor Adetor Emmanuel, the Eastern Regional Director of Veterinary Office has given out records of immunization and prophylactic treatment concerning rabies and other diseases.
According to him, his outfit from January 2019 to December 2019, vaccinated 9,559 sheep, 22,572 goats, 8,555 dogs, 873 cats”.
He added that 4394455 were recorded in exotic birds and 179667 also recorded in local birds as far as poultry is concerned.
Mr. Adetor again emphasized that 4100 in CBIP and 188 in TRYPS (CAWS) were also recorded last year.
Moreover, he added that 2019 gives out a higher record as compared to 2018 due to hard work by educating the people in the region the need to take good care of their animals.
He revealed that his outfit has initiated workshops by giving out free screening to ensure all animals are been treated.
“We just had one workshop at Suhum last two weeks,” said.
Doctor Adetor Emmanuel however, advised the public vaccinate their animals once a year as they would be given some vitamins and other drugs that they can take it regularly.
