A section of Ghanaians has reacted strongly to the recent controversy surrounding Sammy Gyamfi, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, who was seen spraying dollars on Evangelist Mama Pat, also known as Agradaa. Many believe that as a leader, Sammy Gyamfi should set a good example, not engage in such public displays of wealth.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for Sammy Gyamfi’s removal from office. According to them, as a leader, you need to serve as a good example, but spraying cash around is not the kind of behavior expected of someone in a position of authority.
Sompa FM’s Bawah Baidoo recently interviewed Ghanaians who expressed their disappointment and frustration with the suspension.
To them, the suspension will serve as a deterrent to others, and Sammy Gyamfi’s actions warrant more severe consequences.
However, instead of being fired, Sammy Gyamfi has been suspended for three months by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, with his three months’ salary to be donated to the Mahama Care Foundation.
Many Ghanaians feel that this punishment is insufficient, given the severity of the incident.
Sammy Gyamfi on his Facebook wall apologized to Ghanaians and leaders of the nation and promise to serve better.
