It’s barely just two weeks to the celebration of the Christmas festivities but it seems the mood ahead of the event is not encouraging.
A cross-section of the public is hoping to see a miraculous change in the economy, to make life better within the shortest period, before the Yuletide.
Others are also of the view that the year has not been the best as anticipated, and are, therefore, not expecting to see any good change as the year is almost ended.
“This year’s Christmas is not going to be enjoying for me, as life has not been good this year at all”.
“We are workers but living conditions have not been easy this year. We receive our salaries at the end of the month just to use to pay utility bills and high transport fares” a section of the public told mybrytfmonline.com reporter.
However, some people stated that, even though living conditions are hard, they still believe there is a need to be happy with the fact that, they are still counted among the living.
“We don’t have money, the economy is not going well, but we can’t say we will stay in our rooms and cry. Since there is life, there is hope. So we are going to ‘chill’ as we do every year” some women told reporters.
Meanwhile, some traders, market women, and shop attendants also narrated that, they are yet to see bumper sales but were optimistic it may see a difference as the days draw closer to the Yuletide.
