Accra, June 2025 — In a bold move to accelerate economic growth and job creation, the government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy will officially be launched on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, by President John Mahama. The initiative aims to transform key sectors by encouraging round-the-clock operations, ushering in a new era of productivity for Ghana.
Ahead of the launch, the Technical Committee spearheading the policy rollout formally handed over the detailed strategy document to Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
Leading the delegation, Augustus Obuadum Tannoh, revealed that the policy is anchored on three major pillars:
Production Transformation
Supply Chain and Market Efficiency
Human Capital Development
These pillars are supported by eight specialized sub-programs, including Grow24 (agriculture), Make24 (manufacturing), Connect24 (supply chain), and Aspire24, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at resetting the Ghanaian workforce’s mindset toward productivity and professionalism.
“This policy is about more than just economic growth; it’s about redefining who we are as a nation — leveraging our rich cultural heritage and vibrant workforce to build a stronger Ghana,” Mr. Tannoh explained.
Speaker Bagbin Calls for National Unity Behind Policy
Speaker Bagbin hailed the 24-Hour Economy Policy as a crucial step toward consolidating Ghana’s developmental gains and urged all stakeholders to embrace it without partisan or sectional divisions.
“This must be a national program. We must avoid dividing it along ethnic, religious, or political lines. After the launch, the policy will come before Parliament for debate and approval to ensure comprehensive national ownership,” he emphasized.
The Speaker also expressed optimism that the policy marks a significant transition from campaign promises to actionable government policy.
A New Dawn for Ghana’s Economy
The 24-Hour Economy Policy, championed by the National Democratic Congress government, encourages selected industries to adopt continuous operational hours, potentially via a three-shift work system. This strategy aims to boost exports, create jobs, and stimulate sustained economic activity across the country.
With its launch just days away, the nation awaits what could be a landmark shift in Ghana’s economic trajectory, powered by innovation, efficiency, and a renewed spirit of productivity.
