Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus says the injury he suffered against Liverpool on his Champions League debut in the 2020/21 season slowed his development in football.
The highly talented midfielder suffered an injury setback when Ajax played the Reds at Anfield, which ruled him out for most part of the season.
“It slowed my development in football but it was good for my mental health and upbringing as a footballer,” he told Ajax TV.
“When you’re out of the pitch, you get it that there is more to life than playing football. You focus your energy on other aspects of life and even though I was not playing and developing my game, I was developing as a person and a human,” Kudus added.
The Black Stars midfielder has been in a rich vein of form for the Dutch giants, scoring 7 goals in the Eredivise.
He also scored 4 goals in the 2022/23 Champions League group stage.
