The Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD) has intensified publicity for the National Girls-In-ICT Programme in the Ashanti Region through targeted media engagements in Kumasi.
Led by the Ministry’s Head of Public Relations, Naa Korkoi Essah, held interview sessions on Oyerepa TV to promote the initiative and encourage community participation.
The Girls-In-ICT Programme, under the theme “Leadership,” aims to bridge the gender digital divide by equipping young girls with essential ICT skills.
Speaking during the engagements, Naa Korkoi Essah emphasized the programme’s impact in empowering girls, fostering confidence, and preparing them for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
She also highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring equitable access to digital opportunities for girls across the country.
Joined by Anthoinet Ohene-Amoah, who doubles as aWeb Master and a Lecturer at Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) touched on the training modules to include Computer Programming, Game Development, Animation, Scratch, Website Development, and foundational digital skills.
She indicated that the Girls-In-ICT programme has impacted a lot of girls and young women since the initiative started.
The outreach forms part of broader efforts to encourage stakeholders, including parents and educators, to support the programme and ensure its sustainability.
