The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has urged its officers deployed to the conflict-prone Bawku enclave to take extra precautions and prioritise their personal safety.
This follows recent violent incidents and attacks on security personnel in the area. Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Lord Ofori Afrifa, during a meeting with officers on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, stressed that the volatile situation exposes personnel to significant risks while performing their border duties.
Mr. Ofori Afrifa cautioned officers to remain vigilant and mindful of their surroundings, emphasising the need for heightened awareness in operational zones.
He further noted that the GIS is collaborating with other security agencies to improve coordination and protect officers stationed in high-risk areas.
