Mr Antwi Sampson, Chief Executive Officer for Save a Soul Road Safety Volunteer Group” in the Bono East region has expressed maximum confidence in the competencies of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare to curtail bloodshed on our roads should same attention is given to armed robberies and other crimes are given to accidents.
“The success stories of the new, energetic and vibrant IGP Dr Akuffo Dampare since assuming office in dealing with criminals is a public knowledge but it looks as if he has not taken his attention to our roads hence the unimaginable indiscipline resulting to deaths of many through avoidable accidents”.
Speaking in an interview with the media, the Road Safe Volunteer who is also a Professional Fire Service Personnel and Driver at the Techiman Municipal Fire Office lamented that it was totally unacceptable for Ghana to record over 200 deaths in road accidents within the first two months of the year.
He stressed that shockingly Ghana has lost the lives of 17 people in 3 separate road accidents within one weekend and that something definitely and urgently needs to be done about it.
Mr Antwi Sampson further appealed to the various MMDAs, MTTD, National Road Safety Commission and all other Stakeholders in the various regions and districts to rise up to the occasion of ensuring law and order to fight road accidents which are killing more people in Ghana than even COVID-19 pandemic.
