The President of the Ghana Journalist Association, Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has urgently called upon the Ghana Police Service to accelerate their efforts in addressing the unresolved case concerning the late investigative journalist, Ahmed Suale, whose untimely death occurred in January 2016.
During a comprehensive press conference held today in Accra, Mr. Dwumfour elaborated on the current status of the case, drawing attention to the stagnation within state law enforcement agencies that has left this significant case unresolved. He highlighted the importance of renewed vigor and commitment by the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Furthermore, Mr. Dwumfour has made a passionate plea to international organizations to step in and ensure that justice is duly served, not only for the late Ahmed Suale but also for other journalists who have faced alarming threats and have suffered assaults as a consequence of their work.
He emphasized that this is a crucial step towards protecting press freedom and ensuring the safety of journalists who courageously continue to expose truths and hold power to account.
Mr. Dwumfour has finally acknowledged the much-anticipated Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards for this year, which are set to take place in the culturally rich city of Kumasi, specifically at the esteemed Manhyia Palace, and it is happening this coming weekend.
