The President of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Chapter of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Alex Kofi Egotey, has said it would not be bad to show videos and pictures of persons affected by COVID -19 for Ghanaians to be serious with the Pandemic.
According to him, calls from Ghanaians, including the second deputy speaker of Parliament, Honourable Kingsford Alban Sumana Bagbin is not bad because, despite the increasing number of cases and deaths, some Ghanaians still doubt the existence of Novel COVID -19.
In an interview with Kofi Atakora, mybrytfmonline.com reporter, Dr. Alex Kofi Egotey said exposing death bodies at Isolation center would not be bad but Ghana’s culture does not permit such move, adding, people affected by Coronavirus are not exposed to the public because of the high level of stigmatization.
He said even Ghana Health Service and Government permit the media to take photographs and videos of affected persons, their faces most not be exposed to stop stigmatization.
Speaking On lifting the ban on gatherings, Dr. Alex Kofi Egotey said the COVID -19 has come to stay, therefore, Government and stakeholders must find innovative ways of living with the virus without contracting it by easing the restrictions and called on Ghanaians to adhere by precautionary measures to avert the spread.
Dr. Alex Egotey has admonished Ghanaians not to panic in the face of the increasing number of Coronavirus disease.
He has rather advised them to continue to observe the various protocols and precautionary measures put in place by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to limit their chances of contracting the disease.
