The Ghana Maritime Authority on December 31, 2022 undertook a clean-up and marine pollution prevention sensitisation programme.
It took place at the Albert Bosumtwi Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi.
The Takoradi office of the Authority, led by Ing. Michael Nunoo organised the event in collaboration with Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Navy, Marine Police and the chief fishermen.
The exercise which was organised to educate the fisherfolk on the need to keep the harbour clean and avoid polluting the sea with polythene and water sachet.
The team took the opportunity to visit abandoned vessels converted to ghettos at the harbour and asked owners to remove them as soon as possible.
