The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has announced its intention to use November and December to embark on a mass educational campaign to equip the general public with fire safety as part of the strategies to further reduce fire outbreaks in the country.
The GNFS has, however, instructed Regional fire commanders to cooperate for the success of the exercise and submitted for strict compliance.
In a statement issued and signed by the Deputy Chief Fire Officer and Director of Welfare (DCFO), Daniella Mawusi Sarpong urged all regional inspectors to submit reports of the audit conducted on the premises a week after the particular audit.
The GNFS has conducted fire safety audits in all media houses with mass educational campaigns.
The exercise by the GNFS in October 2022 was focused on visiting radio, television and print media houses for fire safety auditing across the country.
The statement disclosed that GNFS visited the Electoral Commission, Civic Education, Courts, Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company and other state institutions for fire safety auditing as a strategic effort to reduce institutional fire outbreaks in the country.
The GNFS team extended the exercise to Ministries, Regional Coordinating Councils and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) nationwide.
The GNFS team from October 17th continued its isometrics to all the market centres in the country to spread out its fire safety education.
The aim of the exercise is in line with strategic measures to curb the increasing rate of commercial and institutional fire outbreaks in the country.
