Pupils of Bawku Municipal Assembly (M.A) Basic School in the East Mamprusi district of the North-East Region can now look forward to an improved educational experience with the completion of a new 6-Unit classroom block with ancillary facilities funded by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
The facility which is also stocked with new furniture replaces an old, dilapidated structure which, hitherto, served hundreds of children in the community who took lessons on the bare floor due to the absence of furniture and other learning aids.
At a ceremony to hand over the building, the North-East Regional Minister, Hon. Yidana Zakaria, expressed the region’s appreciation to GNPC for its commitment towards the development of the region and the impact recorded in education and capacity building across the country.
He highlighted other intervention projects in the North-East region which are also funded by GNPC and assured the Corporation of the region’s collaboration and support to ensure that the investments make maximum impact.
Thanking GNPC for the kind gesture, the Municipal Chief Executive for East Mamprusi, Hon. Hajia Rashida Ponaa Mahama, said the facility demonstrates GNPC’s utmost commitment to contributing to the provision of quality education as a means of transforming the country.
On his part, the Regent of Bowku Gbandana, Naa Yakubu Haruna, said the facility has been delivered right on time to put the minds of parents and community leaders at rest.
He expressed the gratitude of the entire community and tasked parents to be interested in their wards education.
The GNPC entourage, led by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Dominc Eduah (PhD), tasked the school’s authority and Municipal Assembly to ensure that the facility serves its purpose.
