Apostle Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has urged citizens to approach the December 7 elections with prayer, wisdom, and integrity.
In a statement on Facebook, Apostle Onyinah explained that while God is deeply interested in Ghana’s affairs, He will not directly select the nation’s leaders. Instead, he works through people, and it is the responsibility of every voter to carefully consider and choose leaders who demonstrated integrity and good governance.
Drawing on biblical examples, Apostle Onyinah highlighted how God used leaders like Cyrus and Darius to fulfill His purposes. He assured voters that God could similarly use elected leaders to bring about His will for Ghana.
Apostle Onyinah called on Ghanaians to trust the electoral process, describing it as sound and reliable. He urged citizens to reject any attempts by politicians or individuals to incite violence or chaos, emphasizing that the leader with the majority of votes will be declared the winner.
“It is crucial to plan for success and also prepare to accept defeat,” he said, reminding voters that the essence of democracy lies in the willingness to accept outcomes, whether favorable or not.
The Apostle Onyinah differentiated between politicians who seek power and true statesmen who serve selflessly. He challenged both voters and candidates to reflect on their roles, asking, “Where do you stand?”
The statement by Apostle Onyinah concluded with a prayer for peace and unity, asking for God’s guidance to ensure a fruitful and peaceful election. “May the Lord guide us in this election so that, in the end, we can all thank Him for leading us to a peaceful and fruitful outcome.”
