The Office of the President has issued a reminder to outgoing government officials, including Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Regional Ministers, that they are not allowed to keep or purchase official government vehicles as the current administration’s term comes to an end.
This directive, first introduced by President Akufo-Addo in 2020, aims to promote accountability and responsible management of state resources
This directive underscores the President’s commitment to transparency and effective management of public resources.
The Office of the President expects full cooperation from all appointees in adhering to this measure.
In a statement, the directive said the traditional practice of allowing appointees to purchase one official saloon vehicle through valuation by the State Transport Company Ltd. will not be applied under his management.
“No official vehicle shall be acquired by any appointee of the current administration as the term concludes, and All government vehicles in the possession of these appointees must be returned to the Chief Director of the relevant Ministries no later than Friday, 3rd January, 2025” the statement stated
