William Agyapong Quaittoo, CEO of Tree Crops Development Authority of Ghana (TCDA) has reiterated President Akufo-Addo’s led NPP government commitment to make the best out of cashew to benefit the country.
He observed that the establishment of the Tree Crops Development Authority in 2019 and subsequent formation of the Cashew Board, the announcement of minimum buying price & regulation of cashew trading, regular supply of free seedlings and other agric inputs made farming more attractive among many others are all steps Government is taking to make Ghana’s cashew industry number one on the world market.
Hon. William Quaittoo made these known at the maiden annual National conference of the Progressive Cashew Association of Ghana held in Techiman, the Bono East regional capital, and under the theme “Beyond the Traditional Cashew Farming & Exporting”.
He advised farmers to produce quality cashew seedlings in order to attract better pricing from the buyers on the market in order to get more money from their toils to improve their livelihoods.
Earlier in his welcome address, Kwasi Adu-Gyan, Bono East Regional Minister on behalf of Nananom thanked the organisers for choosing Techiman and for that matter Bono East to host this first-ever National conference and pledged the Regional Coordinating Council’s support to farmers.
Guest Speaker at the conference, Yaw Frimpong Addo, a Deputy Minister for Food & Agriculture (Crops) and MP for Manso Adubia Constituency in his address urged Farmers to unite and always seek professional guidance in their activities as the government aims at making agriculture a lucrative venture to reduce unemployment.
