The President of the Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku-Mantey brought out some things the government has made to help grow the creative arts sector in the country.
At the Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG) held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, said there have been some successes though the activities have been some challenges
Admitting that the government could not deliver on his promise of building an ultramodern theatre but plans have been made to provide mobile tent for events till the Covid-19 is out of existence.
Saying that research is been made to know how much has been lost during the pandemic, this has informed them of a 50million dollars to NBSSI for disbursement for the creative art industry.
“Monies have been disbursed to members of the creative arts who applied for CAP-NBSSI loans,” he said.
Adding that, since there is no data to show records indicating members in the creative art industry so it has made budgetary for the sector very difficult. Again, the industry has developed a digital system to use in gathering data of their members.
Saying that some sectors are very weak which needs to be rebuilt.
A member of ATWAG and radio presenter at Okay FM Halifax Ansah-Addo “If we need to agitate for the law to be passed, let’s do that now because, without the law, the Creative Council cannot function fully,”
This forum was organised by ATWAG to engage with the stakeholders of the arts, tourism and culture sector to know what their challenges were and ask questions and proffer ideas to them.
The ATWAG is an association in Ghana to help promote art, tourism and culture and help collaborate with each other in the arts and tourism sector.
