The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. clement Apaak, has stated categorically that government is determined to restore and instill discipline in the educational system in Ghana.
According to Dr. Apaak, parents have a collaborative role to play in the education of their wards.
“We restored PTAs because we believe parents have a crucial and collaborative role to play in the education of their wards, especially at the pre-tertiary level,” He stated.
This comes after major concerns were raised about an alarming video circulating on social media that showed male pupils from two Islamic high schools in Kumasi, Islamic Senior High School and Sakafia Islamic Senior High School, flashing charms they said were for spiritual strengthening.
Students are openly flaunting their charms in the film, which has caused a great deal of public outrage. Some students do this behind their school uniforms, while others do it in front of the public.
Concerns regarding student safety, discipline, and the rising rates of violence and indiscipline in senior high schools have been brought up by the development.
In response to the occurrence, Dr. Apaak revealed in a Facebook post on Thursday, January 15, 2026, that he has forwarded the complaint to the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) Director of General for prompt action.
“I‘ve forwarded the attached story and the associated disturbing video to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service for action,”.He assured
Dr. Apaak advised parents to constantly keep an eye out for their children’s disobedience and to take a more active role in supervising and directing their wards’ behavior while in school.
“Parents must take an interest in the behavior of their wards in school. Parents ought to regularly caution their wards against misconduct and acts of indiscipline,”he added
