Civil servants in Ghana have been granted access to benefit from sponsorship packages from the Scholarship Secretariat.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Scholarship Secretariat, Kingsley Agyemang, it was an arrangement made possible at the behest of Vice President Dr.Mahamadu Bawumia.
“Earlier today, I led the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat to sign a very important Memorandum of Understanding with the Office of the Head of Civil Service following a directive from His Excellency the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The directive from the Vice President was informed by his belief that people drive value which directly results in strengthening of institutions for accelerated development”.
He continued “to this end, the Secretariat will from next year ensure that qualified staffs of the Civil Service are sponsored to pursue Diplomas, Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. programs in accredited tertiary institutions both public and private.
I know that once these civil servants are upgraded academically; it can go a long way to boost their confidence and help in productivity as well”. Head of the Civil Service.
Nana Kwasi Agyekum Dwamena, for his part, commended the initiative from the Vice-President, adding that it was a call in the right direction because the development of any country lies mostly in its public and civil servants.
