Ghana’s vice president, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has highlighted how the government uses technology to address issues that Ghanaians are facing.
He claims that the administration wants to create a digital, data-based society in which many processes will be automated.
On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, the Vice President stated during the Academic City University College’s opening ceremony that using technology to solve national issues would help to prevent Ghana from falling behind in terms of progress.
“In Ghana, we have chosen to be part of the fourth industrial revolution. We have made a decision not to be left behind and for that matter, as a matter of policy, the government is pursuing technology, not for the sake of technology, but we are pursuing technology to solve problems,” Dr. Bawumia said.
Dr. Bawumia noted the government’s launch of the Ghana Card and repeated that around 16 million ID cards had been printed for Ghanaians, as examples of technological breakthroughs made by the Akufo-Addo-led government.
