President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that his government is taking steps to accelerate the grant of the Presidential Charter to private Universities for their contribution to education and learning in the country.
He said the Catholic University College (CUC) of Ghana at Fiapre in the Bono Region will be one of the Universities to grant the Presidential Charter.
According to a speech delivered at the School Campus by the Bono Regional Minister on behalf of the president during the 19th Congregation of the university college said the School has gone through the minimum required period of academic mentorship and is under the supervision of at least two major mentoring public institutions for the award of degrees and diplomas and deserve to be autonomous.
The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Thursday, 28th May 2020, presented presidential charters to the Pentecost University College, Accra, and All Nations University College, Koforidua, at a ceremony at Jubilee House, the seat of the nation’s presidency.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the presentation of the charters means that the two universities “are going to transition into autonomous Universities, with the capacity, now, to award their own degrees and diplomas.”
