Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has disclosed that the government has disrespected the Country’s creative arts fraternity by not fulfilling its promise of constructing regional large capacity theatres, this they promised during the 2016 campaign in their manifesto.
He said that the government should have been polite enough to tell them the reason why they’ve not been able to execute that project instead of just keeping quiet.
According to him, it would have been more respectful for the government to talk about their reasons and reasons for not taking the project and also suggest alternatives for the project.
He said this on Joy news PM Express and questioned the government on its silence towards the project.
“And so along the line when you realized that it was impossible or not feasible to actually erect these new large seating capacity theatres, what stopped you from telling us?
“All you need to do is tell Ghanaians that listen, whilst I was in opposition I figured I could do it. But in government, it’s not easy like that, so I’m unable to achieve what I promised. However, this is what I would like to do to appease or cater to your needs. Are we going to whip anybody? He quizzed.
The NPP pledged in its 2016 manifesto to erect new large capacity theatres in all regions of the country.
However, they have not been able to honour their pledge as they have not built any of these facilities.
