The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu-Antwi, has announced that plans are far advanced for the construction of at least two (2) Cattle Ranches in his jurisdiction to address the growing disputes between farmers and cattle owners/herdsmen.
According to the Minister, Bono East is one of the regions that is most affected by free roaming of cattle in Ghana due to the geographical location as well as the area’s vegetation where stray animals continue to destroy farm crops and pose serious risks to both farmers and the cattle.
Hon. Owusu-Antwi revealed that discussions have already been concluded with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture as a vast land has been secured at Kintampo to begin the project in the coming weeks.
The Bono East Regional Minister made this known in an interview with the Media after he sworn-in the newly elected Assembly members of the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly and their Presiding Member in the person of Mr. Eric Agyei Siakwan.
He used the opportunity to thank members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association for ending their two-week nationwide strike action and pleaded with the health workers to always continue negotiating with the Government for their grievances to be met because going on strike has serious repercussions on the Citizens including deaths therefore must not happen again in the future.
