Labor Expert, Aaron Kuma has urged Government workers to register for Ghana cards as it will assist the government in the payment of salaries.
He stressed that it is for their good because by registering for Ghana cards, the payroll will reduce for the government which will help the government to pay workers what they deserve.
“I think the directive by the controller department was good because if every government worker has the Ghana Card, the government will know the number of workers they are paying”, he said.
Speaking in an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM, 101.1, he admitted that the withdrawal of the Controller and Accountant general department’s Directive indicates that the decision was made impromptu.
“They didn’t consult the workers on the issue, that’s why they withdrew the initiative because workers were not pleased with it”, he added.
He revealed that the decision by the Controller department was made out of the false reports the National Identification Authority (NIA) gave to them concerning the number of Ghanaians who had registered for Ghana Card.
“They made Controller department assume that most Ghanaians had registered for the card hence their decoy to introduce the “no Ghana card no salary” initiative”
According to him, though the directive has been withdrawn, Ghanaians should take time to register for the card for future purposes.
“I know Ghanaians like to discriminate but it will be good if we can use this period to get the card so that in the future we won’t be found wanting for not having it”, he stressed.
