Germany legend and 1991 World Player of the Year, Lothar Matthäus has acquired a stake in Ghana Premier League club, Accra Lions.
The former Bayern Munich star was unveiled on Tuesday, May 23, 2o23 at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra to partner the club.
The event was attended by top personalities including the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, the German ambassador, His Excellency Daniel Krull, Ghana FA boss Kurt Okraku and other former footballers.
Matthäus capped 150 times for Germany and won the Ballon D’or and FIFA World Player of the Year Award in 1990 while plying trade at Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan.
He played an instrumental role in West Germany’s 1990 FIFA World Cup triumph.
