Chief Executive officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has bemoaned the sorry state of financial independence of clubs in the top tier of Ghana football.
In a social media post, the CEO, drew comparism with the monthly earnings of Kotoko’s Ex-Cameroonian striker Frank Mbella, and the prize money the winner of the Betpawa Ghana premier league receives from the football association.
According to him , the monthly earnings of the striker equals the prize money of Ghc 300,000.00 which the eventual winner of the league gets from the F.A.
Each of the 18 teams competing in the 22/23 BetPawa Ghana Premier League received $25, 278 from a sponsorship sum of 2 million dollars provided by online betting firm, Betpawa.
An extra $1,000,000 was allocated for marketing and promotion of the league.
The Kotoko CEO, disagrees with the manner in which, clubs are being supported financially by the football association.
He has gone on to introduce the #BuildingHeavenInHell on social media as show of the level of financial distress clubs in the top tier go through.
