The Ghana Prisons Service and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, with the Acting Director-General of the Prisons Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, paying a courtesy call on NPA’s Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tamaklo.
During the meeting, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie emphasized the need for stronger partnerships to improve the welfare and operations of the Prisons Service, while expressing appreciation for the NPA’s ongoing support.
The NPA Chief Executive acknowledged the Prisons Service’s challenges, particularly the inadequate daily feeding allowance of GHS 2.00 per inmate, and assured the NPA’s commitment to supporting the Service.
Mr. Tamaklo highlighted the importance of treating inmates humanely and transforming prisons into rehabilitation centers.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continued collaboration, including the NPA’s promise to ensure timely fuel supply and the Prisons Service’s initiatives, such as the THINK PRISONS 360 program and vocational training for inmates.
