Communications Officer of Aduana Stars, Evans Oppong has blamed ‘greedy’ football agents for the rampant player’s contract extension refusals.
Ghana Premier League clubs in recent times struggle to have a fruitful talk with players over the extension of their contract.
And according to the PRO of the Dormaa based club, players decline to extend their deals with local clubs because of bad influence from the so-called agents.
“I will describe some agents as selfish and greedy because they only think about their personal gains at the expense of the club. You will go to a particular club and you realize some players are unwilling to extend their contracts due to influence from their agents”
“A club will commence talks to extend contracts of their players but the so-called agents will be playing hide and seek and before you realize the players’ contract had expired which is bad”
“Ask yourself why Ashantigold is losing top players like Latif Anabila, James Akaminko, Shafiu Mumuni and others, while they could have earned about $200, 000 from their sale, its all because of their agents. These agents influence the players not to sign since they think about their selfish interest” he told Vision FM.
A report in the local media suggest that the fire boys are on the verge of losing nine key players since they are not ready to extend.
