Ghanaians are asking about the state of trees planted under the Green Ghana Project last year as the country replicates the idea on Friday, 10th June 2022 across the country.
About 5 million trees were planted in 2021 as part of the Green Ghana Project across all the MMDAs in the country, which saw many Ghanaians participating.
However, Government is determined to plant about 20 million in 2022 as part of the day across the country to help protect the environment and also help deal with climate change.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians in Koforidua, speaking to Nyarko Abronoma, have queried the current state of the trees planted last year as there has not been any communication from the Forestry Commission.
Despite supporting the idea, a section of the public urged the government to take care of the trees planted to ensure the investment made today yield the needed results in the future.
“The project is not bad but as citizens, we need to know the state of the trees. How many survived or otherwise” some Ghanaians stressed.
The Eastern Regional Office of the Forestry Commission has revealed it has distributed about 3.7 million trees to all municipal and Districts across the region as part of the celebration.
