The Eastern Regional Executives of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), together with the Regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mrs. Zenabu Addo, have paid a courtesy call on retiring Eastern Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Winfred K. Ofosu.
The visit was to officially introduce Mr. Edmund Duodu Atweri, the 2024 Eastern Regional Best Nurse who also emerged as the 2nd Runner-Up at the national level, and Mrs. Mabel Dugbenu, winner of the esteemed Mrs. Ruth Aku Gyan Rural Service Award.

Also present at the meeting were the Regional Directors of Public Health and Administration, the District Directors of the awardees, and the District Treasurer of GRNMA Upper West Akim.
Dr.Winfred Ofosu warmly welcomed the delegation and applauded the awardees for their outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery within their respective districts and the Eastern Region as a whole.
He stated the importance of acknowledging healthcare professionals who demonstrate excellence, particularly those serving in rural and underserved communities.
Discussions during the meeting focused on promoting healthcare excellence, addressing regional healthcare challenges, and encouraging innovative approaches to improving patient care.
The awardees shared personal experiences, best practices, and challenges faced in their line of duty—particularly within the Kwahu Afram Plains enclave.

Impressed by their dedication and impact, Dr. Ofosu urged their respective District Directors to document and submit their projects for the 2025 Ghana Health Service Healthcare Excellence Awards.
As part of the visit, GRNMA presented souvenirs to the Regional Director in appreciation of his continued support.
