National statistical institutions all over the world have shifted from the use of statistical software packages to the use of open source software like “R” and Python.
These aid in the visualisation and data analysis of any given data set.
Recently, 21 staff members of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) successfully completed training in the “R” software programme.
Facilitators from Statistics Denmark encouraged the participants to take advantage of R’s user-friendliness and robustness, as well as added packages developed by other “R” users to assist in their work.
This training is part of the Strategic Sector Cooperation programme between Statistics Denmark and Ghana Statistical Service. Later this year, 20 additional staff of GSS will undergo the same training.
