The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has officially approved the fee structure for the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year, a move aimed at addressing concerns and providing clarity to students and stakeholders.
In a statement issued on Monday, January 12, and signed by Director-General Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC announced that the Academic Facility User Fee will remain unchanged from the 2024/2025 academic year, meaning students will not face any increase in this charge.
The approved fees include GH₵50 for Student Representative Council (SRC) dues, a GH₵150 SRC Development Levy, and a GH₵250 Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) Development Levy. In addition, undergraduate students, including freshmen, will pay a Telecel Broadband Levy of GH₵122.
GTEC also introduced a one-time 75th Anniversary Levy of GH₵100, which will apply only during the 2025/2026 academic year and will not be extended beyond that period.
The Commission emphasized the need for students to be properly informed about their rights, including the option to opt out of certain levies where applicable. According to GTEC, the release of the approved fees is part of efforts to promote transparency and ensure compliance within the University of Ghana.
“This announcement seeks to resolve issues surrounding the 2025/2026 fee schedule for the University of Ghana. We count on the continued cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure its effective implementation,” the statement said.
