The former President of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama has stated that the current economic hardship has impacted negatively in every aspect of the economy.
The former President said the current economic harsh conditions was as a result of poor management of the economy by the current NPP government but not as a result of covid-19 or Russia – Ukraine war.
Former President John Dramani Mahama addressing delegates at Asamankese to climax his three days touring of the Eastern region pointed out that the economic harsh conditions has resorted to creating chop money brawl between some couples in Ghana since the women are not able to use the chop money to buy enough food items in the market.
He said “our wives are suffering because everything is expensive now so the chop money we give to them cannot buy much items to their satisfaction when they go to the market”.
“When they come home too the men won’t understand them that the money they gave to them was used to buy small items , the men are also suffering they are not able to get money to increase their chop money but there is time for everything, JM will come and will all have a better life” he told the gathering.
He also lamented that drivers and farmers are also bearing the blunt of the economic hardship.
Mr. Mahama said due to the incessant increment of fuel prices in recent times drivers mostly spend their income on fuel and spare parts hence unable to save money for themselves and families.
Additionally, the former President indicated that government have stopped giving fertilizers to cocoa farmers unlike the NDC era where free fertilizers were given to cocoa farmers.
He reiterate that the delay by government in releasing funds to cocoa produce buying companies compel some farmers to at our borders to channel their cocoa produce to the neighbouring countries where they sell and receive their money instantly.
