The Convener for fishery Alliance, Kyei Kwadjo Yamoah has pleaded with the Parliament’s Appointments Committee not to approve the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya, Mavis Hawa Koomson as the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture after her abysmal performance at the vetting.
Mavis Hawa Koomson is one of the Ministers that were appointed by the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.
Hawa Koomson has been trending on social media as Ghanaians have started trolling her after she failed to answer questions regarding her previous role as Special Development Initiatives Minister, and also her new role as Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister.
In an interview with Abena Opokua Ahwenee on Dadi FM, 101.1, he emphasized that per her responses it is clear that she is not endowed with knowledge about the position she’s vetting for.
“We already have issues in the fishing sector and we don’t need someone who doesn’t have a clue about the ministry. We need someone who is very insightful as far as the fishing ministry is concerned”, he said.
He added that it will be disrespect to the fisheries ministry if Hawa Koomson is approved by the Vetting Committee.
“People think our job is so easy and we don’t need to be knowledgeable to operate in the ministry which is not so, therefore approving or appointing Mavis Hawa Koomson as the Minister will be a disrespect to us, he said.
He also pointed out some problems the fisheries ministry is facing and urged the government to look into them.
