Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has been challenged by Mr. John Boadu, the former general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to substantiate his claim that he is a founding member of the party.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s claim to be a founding member, according to Mr. Boadu, should be seen as self-proclamatory.
On September 27, 2023, Mr. Boadu expressed doubts on Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s ability to serve as a founding member during an interview with Citi FM in Accra.
In response to remarks reported to Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe criticizing the openness of party elections, he stated, “Those in charge of elections were not being transparent, adding that it is a serious matter, so I’m not surprised Alan has left the party and decided to go independent.”
Mr. Boadu emphasized that all of the party’s original members had voting rights and urged the rank-and-file to reject allegations that Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe is a founding member.
Boadu expressed sadness at Mr. Alan Kyerematen’s decision to leave the party.
He recognized that some NPP members have resentment but yet choose to serve the party by remaining in its employ.
Mr. Boadu emphasized that numerous people—many of whom have never served as ministers—had given up their professional ambitions and financial resources for the party’s survival and progress over the years.
