The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has underscored government’s dedication to finishing the La General Hospital project, emphasizing its importance in relieving the strain on Ridge and other health facilities in the area.
During an inspection visit to the project site in La, the Minister received a comprehensive briefing from the contractors on the progress of work and the challenges they face.
He assured them that government had already made a budgetary allocation of GH₵130 million towards the project and that the Ministry of Finance was expediting the necessary payment processes to ensure work continues without interruption.
“This project is very dear to our hearts. We have made the necessary allocations, and I have personally followed up with the Ministry of Finance to ensure the payment process is fast-tracked. Please remain on site and continue your work; the government will do its part,” Hon. Akandoh said.
He encouraged the contractors to communicate any challenges promptly so they could be addressed, emphasizing that the Ministry would continue to monitor progress closely to ensure timely completion.
The Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, who accompanied the Minister, expressed appreciation to the government for its continued support, assuring residents that the project remains a priority under the current administration.
“We want to assure the people of La Dadekotopon that the hospital will be completed. Government has not abandoned it , we are committed to seeing it through,” she said.
The 170 bed La General Hospital redevelopment project, once completed, is expected to significantly enhance access to quality healthcare for residents in La and its surrounding communities, reducing congestion at major referral facilities in Accra.
