The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control has held a debriefing meeting of a scoping mission on emergency preparedness and response flagship initiatives in Africa.
The overall aim of the scoping mission is to strengthen country capacities for public health emergencies and also to tailor solutions to reflect regional, national and local needs.
The Chief Director of the Ministry, Alhaji Hafiz Adam, addressing the team, detailed that the mission sought to sensitize government and key stakeholders on Emergency Preparedness and Response, identify existing resources, gaps and priorities and also draft a national costed roadmap for the roll-out of the Emergency Preparedness and Response. It is also to determine specific needs for coordinating the flagship initiatives.
The gathering therefore, was to get feedback in terms of key findings, challenges and issues that will need to be addressed to ensure that capacities within the health system are strengthened to prepare, detect,and respond to health emergencies.
