In a significant effort to address childhood cancer, the World Health Organization (WHO) met with the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The meeting centered on improving access to childhood cancer medications and enhancing healthcare delivery in the country.
The WHO representative presented practical measures to combat childhood cancer, including the provision of essential medicines, strengthening of technology, and training programs for the cancer workforce.
These initiatives aim to reduce the disparity in childhood cancer outcomes between high-income and low-income countries.
Hon. Akandoh welcomed the WHO’s initiatives and emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services.
He assured that the government has implemented strategic measures to sustain and improve healthcare delivery nationwide, stating that they are working to build a resilient and efficient healthcare system for all Ghanaians.
The meeting marked an important step toward improving childhood cancer care in Ghana. With the support of the WHO and the government’s commitment, the country is positioned to make significant progress in enhancing healthcare outcomes for its citizens.
