Health Officials in the Krobo area in the Eastern Region are struggling to embark on successful contact tracing after a Journalist tested positive for Covid-19.
The Journalist case is one of the clinically suspected cases that were confirmed to be Coronavirus.
He has since been in isolation as his condition is being managed and said to be recovering.
However, the Journalist who used to work for a local media house in the areas is reportedly stampeding the process of contact tracing which has to make it unsuccessful three attempts by health officials to take samples of his contacts particularly those in his households.
The District Disease Control Officer told mybrytfmonline.com the team will continue to engage the client to corporate to help take samples of his contacts today to avert the spread of the disease among his contacts.
He said, because the team wanted to conceal the identity of the index case, it has not explained into details to the family members in the household the main reason their samples need to be taken adding that, after engagement with the client, they will return to the house for broader consultation with the family to ensure their samples are taken today.
However, the Journalist told the media he is not obstructing the work of the health Officials but rather wants to be discharged next week as assured to support the contact tracing exercise else the people will continue to resist the health officials.
“What I see about the disease control officer is that he thinks it is his work, and I don’t know anything about his work and I shouldn’t interfere in his work but this is a human institution now it is the strategy it is not about Ghana Health Service it is about everybody so if you don’t want to take ideas from anybody and you want to use his strategy I want him to go so that I will also let him know that the people also have rights. So threats to use Police are No! No. Because you need to let them understand first. You have been there three times your strategy failed will you use force.”
Eastern Region has recorded 604 Coronavirus cases with 9 deaths. Half of the confirmed cases have however recovered and discharged.
