Former Accra Hearts of Oak superstar, Mohammed Polo, has revealed that he parted ways with the Phobians because they wanted to retire him.
Polo, dubbed as the ‘Dribbling Magician’ surprisingly left the Ghana Premier League giants for city rivals Accra Great Olympics in 1992 and according to him, the decision to ditch the rainbow boys was their intention to force him to retire.
Reacting to calls for the retirement of legendary striker, Asamoah Gyan, he said, “We don’t retire legends so we should allow him to play. Legends decide on their future. I had the same problem during my stint with Hearts of Oak, they wanted to retire me and that is why I joined Great Olympics”
“Hearts of Oak wanted to retire me at all cost but I told them we don’t retire legends. The truth is that legends retire themselves. No one thought him how to play football and so why do you want him out of the team” he told S.K Ntim of Bryt FM in Koforidua.
