The current heat ongoing amongst members of the National House of Chiefs has been attributed to an attempt to undermine the authority of its leadership.
There has been series of comments from members of the House after a statement issued and signed by its President, Togbe Afede (XVI) urging Ghanaians yo vote NO in the December referendum as the House is of the view, it will deepen corruption.
Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, and other fellow members alleged there were no consultations with the whole members of the House before the statement was issued by the President and his Vice.
Speaking to the matter on Monday, 18th November 2019, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is of the view, the comments by some of the chiefs is unfortunate as he suspect a move to undermine the author of the President.
He revealed, the President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II has been given an appointment by President Akufo-Addo at GNPC and therefore not surprised with his comment.
Mr. Ablakwa therefore, insisted such development confirm the opposing of the referendum to allow politics into district assembly elections as its challenges would be enormous.
