Residents living along the Nsukwao drainage in Koforidua have expressed disappointment at the shoddy work done by the contractor.
The aggrieved residents speaking to Bryt FM news accused the contractor and the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly of failing to work to expectation.
They made this revelation after Monday’s evening downpour which affected many households along the drainage.
President Akufo-Addo during the 2020 campaign cut sod for the construction of the Nsukwao drainage at a cost of GHC52 billion to help deal with perennial flooding in the area.
The project, which is yet to be commissioned, seems to have failed its first thirst as yesterday’s downpour has exposed poor work done by the contractor.
Meanwhile, the Assembly member for the area, Yaw Addasi, has also expressed dissatisfaction at the work of the contractor and has assured residents that the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly would soon access the work and act accordingly.
He also, indicated the Assembly will soon contact victims of the flood to find a better way of supporting them.
Some of the effects of the heavy downpour include; the collapse of the building, loss of a huge amount of money while most animals (goat, sheep, fowls, and others) have also died.
