The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery has admonished the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to strive to reduce the number of burnt to death cases in the country.
He said this in his speech during the Maiden Fire Conference at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Accra on November 16, 2022.
The conference, themed “Enhancing Effective Fire Management for National Development” was the maiden Fire Conference organized by the GNFS to gather important Stakeholders in the Safety and Security sector to promote the safety and security needs of the Ghanaian populace.
Hon. Ambrose Dery commended the Service for their hard work in reaching out to the public with pragmatic fire safety messages and urged them to keep it up.
He however expressed dissatisfaction in the number fire incidents in which the victims were burnt to death in especially domestic settings.
It was in this regard that he entreated the Management of the Service to strive to bring such cases to the barest minimum.
