Chief of Awukugua in Okere of the Eastern region Osabarima Opese Konadu II has appealed to government to consider naming some institutions after the late priest Komfo Anokye.

At the launch of the Komfo Anokye festival over the weekend, the chief retreated the enormous Komfo Anokye played in ensuring peace and oneness in Ashanti and Ghana as a whole.
He was, however, worried that Asanteman and Ghana is yet to acknowledge the efforts of the great priest and called for immediate consideration.

Osabarima Opese Konadu II again called on all citizens across the country and beyond to partake in the historic event.
The Eastern Regional minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey underscored the need to capitalize on the celebration to improve local tourism as it will portray the rich culture and tradition of both Ashantis and the Akuapems.

She assured the Awukugua traditional council for such an Initiative and pledged government full support to make it a memorable one.
Meanwhile, Dr. Yaw Anokye Frimpong Esq, a historian also gave insight about the lifestyle and activities of Komfo Anokye, describing him as God sent angel to the earth.

He explained the achievements of the late priest and enumerated on his achievements during his stay in life.
The renowned historian challenged the people of Awukugua and Ghana in general to stay united and fight for a good cause as that was the main vision of Komfo Anokye.

The launch was attended by traditional and religious leaders, politicians, indigenes and people from other parts of the world.
The climax of the festival will come off in 2026 and been organized by both traditional authorities from Ashanti and Awukugua.
