History was made on 7th December 2020, when Darkoa Newman was elected by electorates of the Okaikwei South Constituency.
Darkoa Newman contested for the NPP primaries in June 2020 where she won the seat for Okaikwei South. She defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament Arthur Ahmed and Nana Fedua by gathering 440 votes whilst the other two got 327 votes and 27 votes respectively.
This history records her as the first woman who has won the seat in the Okaikwei South and gained one of the best numbers of votes in the constituency.
Darkoa Newman won the 2020 election with 40,393 votes, this made the NDC parliamentary candidate lose with 26,019 votes which shows the mass difference.
Her hard work and dedication to helping her community and the aged has won the hearts of the people which consequently has led to such a massive victory.
Darkoa Newman is also a project management consultant who has executed projects like terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport, Achimota Mall, West Hills, and many others.
Her life takes a different turn as she begins her journey to the parliament as a Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei South Constituency.
