The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford has reportedly been shot dead.
He was killed by unidentified gunmen while returning from a campaign at Nkusukum on the Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road on Friday 9th October 2020 around 1:00am dawn.
The Mfantseman NPP Constitituency first vice Chairman popularly known as Wofa Yaw confirmed the news to mybrytfmonline.com.
The body has been deposited at the Saltpond Hospital Mortuary, while police investigation commences.
The incident is happening at the back of gruesome murder incidents recorded in parts of the country in the last three years with the recent being the murder of Prof. Emmanuel Yaw Benneh a Law Lecturer at the University of Ghana.
On 9 February 2016, eleven months to Presidential and Parliamentary election, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu was stabbed dead in his residence at dawn.
Subsequently, the police arrested a man for the murder. The accused, Daniel Asiedu, later confessed to killing the MP, in a struggle as he tried to rob him, and was charged with murder but since then Prosecution has not progressed as expected.
